The ClamCleat Auto-Release cleat offers an efficient solution for securely locking down a rudder blade while allowing it to flip-up safely if it encounters the bottom or any solid obstacle in the water. This innovative cleat holds ropes tightly yet will release them instantly when it is overloaded. Once activated, it can be easily reset in seconds by simply pushing the cleat back down into its base.

The CL257 model is equipped with an adjustable cam, allowing the user to set the release tension according to the specific boat type and local sailing conditions. The cam can be adjusted to ensure that the rudder blade is held down firmly during maximum sailing performance. Consequently, the CL257 is set to minimize strain on the rudder when it makes contact with an obstacle.

This cleat can be installed on nearly all lifting tillers and serves to protect centre boards as well (please refer to the fitting instructions).

Recently, the cleat has received an upgrade to its cam and screw, enhancing its performance in challenging applications.
